City of Chester Archers is delighted to share some brilliant news. We have secured £1,158 in funding from The Marshes Community Benefit Fund.
This grant will allow us to train two new coaches and secure sports hall space at Frodsham Leisure Centre for upcoming beginner sessions. In practical terms, that means at least 15 new beginners will have the opportunity to start their archery journey with us. It also means more qualified coaches to support both new and existing members as they develop their skills.
Growing sustainably matters to us. Archery is a sport built on safety, patience and good coaching. Every new member completes a six week beginner course to ensure they meet Archery GB standards of safety and competency before joining the club fully. Investing in coaching and facilities protects that standard while allowing us to welcome more people onto the shooting line.
City of Chester Archers has always aimed to make target archery accessible to all. We actively encourage participation from under 25s, juniors and archers with disabilities. As a friendly local club, we regularly welcome newcomers from across the wider area who are looking to try something different and rewarding.
The Marshes Community Benefit Fund, linked to Frodsham Windfarm, distributes up to £170,000 each year across two funding cycles to support local projects and community groups. Their backing helps organisations like ours grow responsibly and strengthen community sport.
We are extremely grateful for their support and excited about what this means for the future of archery in Chester.
