About the club

Shooting since 1982

City of Chester Archers has been part of the local archery community since 1982. Over 40 years later, we’re still here – still shooting, still growing, and still welcoming new faces through the door.

One of our founding members, Joy, shoots with us to this day. That kind of continuity isn’t something you can manufacture. It says something about what this club is.

We’re a club of over 50 active members, and if you were to look around on a shoot day you’d see the full picture – juniors and pensioners, beginners and seasoned competitors, recurve and compound and flatbow. People in corporate jobs and people who’ve retired. Some members have disabilities; all of them shoot. What they have in common isn’t background or ability – it’s that they showed up, and they stayed.

about

We shoot at our grounds in Helsby and Frodsham. Competition is part of the club for those who want it, but it’s never the whole story. Plenty of our members shoot purely for the enjoyment of it, and that’s just as welcome here.

If you’re thinking about joining, you’re not walking into a clique or a committee. You’re joining a club that’s been doing this a long time, that knows how to look after people, and that genuinely enjoys the sport.
